FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What Makes Your League Different?

The primary goal of all our programs is development.  We want to teach kids to not only to be football players but to be great young men as well.  As such, we have introduced innovations like 8 on 8 Football for 5th and 6th grade and our members take a cooperative approach to ensure anyone who wants to play football can.

  • When is the Season?

Practices typically start the first week of August.  Teams play a 7 or 8 game schedule starting in late August that runs until mid to late October.  Games are played on Saturdays.

  • Are there eligibility requirements?

Each program has different requirements regarding who can play in their programs, and you can reach out to those programs that you are interested in.

  • Why 8 on 8 Football in 5th and 6th Grade?

Every other sport that kids play tend to ramp kids up to playing the game with full rules in place.  For example, in baseball, kids do not play on the full diamond until they are in 7th grade.  8 on 8 provides a bridge between youth flag football and the full game by playing on a smaller field under modified rules that encourage players to learn all aspects of the game.

  • Is Football Safe?

Any sport or physical activity that one engages in comes with some element of risk.  We have worked to make our sport as safe as possible.  All our programs certify their coaches either through USA Football or Atavus tackling.  These programs emphasize “head-out” tackling.  Every game has a certified trainer on the sideline.  Our helmets are all reconditioned every other year.  Our league takes player safety very seriously and has made investments of time and money to make it as safe as possible.

  • Are Their Standings or a League Championship?

No.  Our mission is development and not wins and losses.  To be sure, kids want to win the games they are in and coaches want to win as well, but we aren’t adding external pressures that may lead coaches to forget their primary mission.
